Among the works that poured forth over the next five months—often taking only two or three days from conception to completion, was a series of pieces for various combinations of instruments for small chamber ensembles, usually duos or trios. Most of these, too, were conceived as cycles of miniature musical poems, linked by key and by expressive shape.
These works included a piano duet, Bilder aus Osten Pictures from the East , completed the day after Christmas. Three days later he began a set of Waldscenen Forest scenes for piano; they were finished in a week. Most of March he spent writing choral romances and ballads, as well as the Spanisches Liederspiel, a cycle of vocal solos, duets, and quartets.
The first week of April was devoted to revising his first two piano trios for publication. Being a bass player, we have to transpose these sonatas down a step we tune our strings differently for solos , and you just made it so much easier for me to play this!
Emmanuel Music - Schumann Chamber Series: Year Four, Concert IV - Program Notes
Thank you so much, Sir! I tried to stay as close to the version I was using as I could. I consulted some version with the tenor clef because some of the notes were questionable. I would have preferred to use a standard treble clef to notate those sections of music, but you cannot make only the treble clef portions transpose down an octave. I don't currently have plans to transcribe the other cello concertos.
I did this one to make it available to OpenScore.
